The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP®) is an innovative career development program designed specifically for minority students who are entering their junior and senior years in high school. Its primary objective is to increase the number of high school students from underrepresented ethnic groups to attend college and major in accounting.
We launched our first Accounting Careers and Awareness Program (ACAP) residency week in July 2012 at the University of Central Florida with a class of 15 upcoming high school juniors and seniors. We have since continued to host this program every year at the University of Central Florida in the month of July.
The application packet is deadline April 15, 2019.
There is a $25.00 processing fee to reserve your dorm room and meal card. If there is a hardship, please call one of the ACAP Committee members
Selections will be made by April 2019.
There will be a mandatory orientation scheduled for May 18, 2019 at 11 am at the University of Central Florida (UCF) for all selected students and their parents/ guardians.
Who Should Apply?
ACAP is open to Central Florida minority high school students that will be juniors or seniors by fall 2018, with a minimum GPA of 2.8.

1. Personal Cover Letter describing your College and Career aspirations. (Please limit answer to 500 words)
2. Recommendation Form completed by Teacher or Guidance Counselor OR Letter of Recommendation (must be sent directly from Teacher or Guidance to NABA at [email protected]). Please make sure your name is on the letter.
ACAP Residency Week is a one-week motivational and educational program held annually at a local university. Students are introduced to career in accounting, finance, economics and management through a customized curriculum involving guest lecturers from the business community. Students selected for the residency week receive scholarships covering the total cost of the program. This program will be held at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Students will live on campus (stay in the college dorms) each night of the camp.
July 14 – July 19, 2019
Find out what accountants really do in the Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP). Spend a week in July, all expenses paid, at the University of Central Florida College of Business. Learn about diverse careers in accounting. You will live in a residence hall; meet faculty, business professionals and other students interested in accounting and business; attend hands-on workshops; and take field trips to Orlando-area firms. Make new friends, become familiar with a real college campus and start thinking about how a degree in accounting can really add up.
This year’s ACAP class will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 through Friday, July 20, 2018 at the University of Central Florida. The program is sponsored by the Greater Orlando Profssional Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA). ACAP is a fully supervised program backed with donations and grants from local businesses, CPA firms and government agencies. Students selected for the ACAP class will receive a full scholarship which covers the cost of living on campus, meals, supplies, and transportation during the week of the program.
